English

We have developed a new curriculum that will empower students to establish a clear basis for their future English studies in parallel with their school program. This 12-week 36-hour course will give the students a broader understanding of English grammar and the usage of the language rules in various situations.

At Prime Education, we use up to date, brand new material to enhance the student's ability to read, write and speak fluently. The classroom environment is supported with supplementary material that promotes learning throughout the class period.

In addition to these, we make sure that the students have learned the necessary skills by testing them every week in the form of a quiz. At the end of the course, each student will have taken 12 quizzes and done numerous in-class activities. Throughout the semester, we will inform the parents of all the progress their child makes and also point out the areas where the student needs to work harder on.

English III

At Prime Education, we believe students of the fifth grade level should be given many opportunities for writing with teacher guidance that strikes a balance between creativity and the correct use of grammar. English III will attempt to regulate this balance by focusing on the more speculative components of the language arts while encouraging students to incorporate their creativity on paper.

By the end of the 12-week 36-hour course, classes will have completed 12 vocabulary quizzes (weekly) and 6 grammar tests (bi-weekly). Students should be reasonably competent spellers, and in the habit of using a dictionary to check and correct words that present difficulty. Students will also find comfort in revising and editing to produce a finished product that is thoughtful, well-organized, and reasonably correct in grammar. Some main topics covered throughout the course will include the following:

  • Identifying subjects and predicates
  • Correcting fragments and run-ons
  • Pronoun-antecedents case agreement (nominative, objective, possessive) in number and gender
  • Commas with an appositive
  • Produce various writings - including summaries, letters, descriptions, essays that explain a process, stories - with a coherent structure or story line.

English IV

English IV studies will apply instruction of grade 6 comprehension, writing and grammar skills while maintaining comfort in routine writing assignments that enhance their language arts, reading and writing skills as well as speaking and listening skills. In this 12-week 36-hour course, English IV students will place a stronger emphasis on revision than previous grades in expository writing, grammatical conventions and vocabulary enrichment.

Prime Education's uses high quality grammar and vocabulary material to help stimulate effective communication in the language arts at the sixth grade level. Additional studies include weekly supplemental grammar packets, vocabulary quizzes, and independent reading time. The course's focuses will include:

  • Participating civilly and productively in group discussions
  • Giving short speeches
  • Identifying independent and dependent clauses
  • Identifying sentence types - simple, compound, complex
  • Active and passive voice
  • Identify and avoid misplaced modifiers (especially adjective and adverb clauses)

English V

Prime Education's English V curriculum inspires students to become independent learners who appreciate and understand their world. Integrated studies provide students with unique and age-appropriate materials that help them to become accountable for their use of time, for accuracy in their work and to evaluate their strengths and areas of growth. Students of this 12-week 36-hour course will be given the opportunity to manage their class work responsibilities based on a bi-weekly book report on a chapter book of their choice read at home. Each 90-minute class will spend their time with language arts and rich vocabulary studies, which increase the student's comprehension of their reading and writing skills.

The remainder of the 30 minutes encourages the student use those lessons learned for the day by incorporating them into either the class work assignments given by the instructor or the bi-weekly book reports which will later be read in front of the class. The individualized work plans to allow our students of the 7th grade level to use time effectively and to make appropriate choices at their own pace while middle-school workload at their schools begins to increase.

Short quizzes will be taken throughout the course to ensure the student's comprehension of grammar (bi-weekly) and vocabulary enrichment (weekly). By the end of the marking period, the student will have completed 12 vocabulary quizzes, 6 grammar quizzes and 6 book reports. Contents of the English V studies will include the following:

Prime Education's eighth grade English V classes are designed to further master and elaborate on the grammar, composition, literature and language skills studied in the seventh grade. Students are expected to have mastered the four content areas in this curriculum: grammar, punctuation, capitalization, and spelling. These 90-minute sessions will focus on intensive study with high quality grammar and vocabulary enriched texts with weekly quizzes to ensure the student's comprehension of the language arts at the eighth grade level. The 12-week 36-hour course intensive study will include the following:
